5 Yellow Wedding Theme Ideas Inspired by Pantone’s Colour of the Year

Pantone announced 2021’s colour of the year as Illuminating Yellow and after the year we had in 2020, I couldn’t have chosen a more vibrant, joyous colour myself. The colour is intended to convey a message of strength and hopefulness that is enduring and uplifting and I couldn’t agree more. Now whether you are team Pantone colour or the year or not, with so many 2020 weddings having to be rescheduled, I personally think this bright and cheerful colour is a perfect choice for 2021 and I’m sure we will see this colour feeding through to yellow wedding theme trends for the year.

Now look, I could be just a little bit biased about this topic, because I just so happened to have a yellow wedding theme myself. So I definitely think it’s a fabulous idea!  Weddings are such a personal experience and of course you want to create a truly bespoke day for you and your special someone.

So here are my 5 Yellow Wedding Theme Ideas and how you can make it work for you!

Flowers

The obvious place to start, but when you have such wonderful choices I mean why wouldn’t you? Sunflowers, Roses, Orchids, Dahlias…when it comes to a yellow wedding theme, the list of flower options available is endless. Flowers are a very simple way to add a pop of colour into your yellow wedding theme.  Flowers are also not only one of the more obvious ways to incorporate colour into your theme, they are also a great way to add some personality to your wedding day.

Statement Shoes

I mean, who doesn’t love a statement shoe? Yellow shoes are going to make a unique statement, which is kind of what you are trying to achieve with a colour as vibrant as yellow anyway. Why not pop on some funky yellow heels which your guests will get a glimpse of each time you take a step down that aisle.

Bridesmaid (or Wedding!) Dress

With a prominent colour like yellow, why not use a prominent element like a bridesmaid dress or even your wedding dress. It’s not an option that I personally chose, (But kinda wish I had now!) but these would definitely make a big statement. Which is maybe why I did choose yellow for my recent branding shoot with Mel at Bird on the Wall Photography, because well I do love the colour!

Men's Ties

It doesn’t have to be all about the girls when it comes to incorporating colour into your yellow wedding theme, you can get the boys involved as well. Pocket squares or ties are a subtle way you can add more yellow into your day and as an added bonus the yellow balances so well against the dark suits.

Wedding Cake

A Bright, vibrant and bold colour like yellow may not be a typical wedding theme, but that’s why it’s so fun! Wedding cakes don’t need to always be a classic, neutral palette. Don’t be afraid to incorporate bold, bright colours into your cake as well, if you are going for a yellow wedding theme.

It doesn’t have to be just about the cake itself either. There’s lots of ways you can incorporate design elements and your theme into your cake display as well. Don’t be scared to think outside the box! Use a mix of items, such as cake stands, boxes, flowers and trays to bring your yellow wedding theme together.

So there you have it, my 5 top tips to lighten and brighten your big day and incorporate the Pantone Colour of the Year into your Yellow Wedding Theme for 2021.
